J&C Printing acquires Commerce Printing
Business combination adds capabilities for local customers
October 16, 2006 Fond du Lac - Two long-time Fond du Lac printing companies have joined forces. J&C Printing Company, Inc. has announced that it has acquired substantially all assets and employees of Commerce Printing – previously known as The Print Shop located at 19 E. 3rd Street in Fond du Lac effective September 29, 2006.
“We are very excited to welcome Commerce Printing and its employees into our family of companies,” said Doug Vonderhaar, President and CEO of J&C Printing Company. As a new division of J&C, Commerce Printing will continue to focus on local commercial printing. For more than 20 years, both Commerce and J&C Printing have developed a personal approach to the printing needs of local customers at a superior value.
J&C Printing Company is Wisconsin’s largest label imprinter, specializing in labels for institutional and retail food products throughout the United States. Commerce Printing is well known in the area for fast, quality printing with a family atmosphere. “This combination yields more capabilities for all of our customers,” Vonderhaar said. “We recently invested in a state-of-the-art Mitsubishi computer-to-plate machine for our pre-press department. This new technology will be used by both businesses to deliver the highest quality and detailed printing plate available. We now have 15 presses, two graphic designers, and a variety of post-press and bindery capability to handle just about any printing need.” “In today’s fast-paced business environment, bigger doesn’t always equate to better. Unlike franchise and large-corporation printers, we believe there is still room in the market for a local company that believes in relationship printing,” he said.
Luke S. Martin, CEO of Commerce Printing, stated, “We have very established relationships with our customers at Commerce Printing. Our primary desire was to make sure that we positioned them with the type of company that can handle their needs in a similar manner. J&C Printing was the most logical choice in the Fond du Lac area because their philosophy and structure is similar to our own. As former competitors, we were well aware of J&C’s position and this acquisition forms a very strong presence in the commercial printing market.” With its combined customer base and more than 40 years of total experience, Commerce Printing and J&C Printing have produced just about every type of general printing application. In addition to their in-house capabilities, the company has several strategic alliances to produce uncommon specialty items.
